KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Nelson Atkins Museum is holding a special celebration and exhibit to coincide with the Day of the dead, which is a Mexican holiday to remember loved ones who have passed on around Halloween and All Saints Day.
Day of the Dead or Dia de Los Muertos is a holiday in Mexico where they honor the deceased by building altars.
As part of the celebration, the Nelson Atkins Museum will have a very large “ofrenda” or altar with around one hundred skulls made by the local Mattie Rhodes Center.
