RUSS
Welcome to the DVD edition of the Screening Room. I’m Russ Simmons.
SHAWN
And I’m Shawn Edwards. Nothing new in stores on Tuesday or available for digital download on because Wednesday is a big fat holiday. Happy 4th! So we are back tracking and reviewing a few recent titles that we missed. But don’t call it a comeback. Just call it a recap. So Russ do the honors and get this thing started with a movie starring our home town dude Paul “Big Slick” Rudd.
WANDERLUST
RUSS
One of Kansas City’s favorite sons, Paul Rudd, stars alongside Jennifer Aniston in the exceedingly raunchy R-rated comedy, “Wanderlust.” There is plenty of sex and drugs humor and forced outrageousness. The movie swings wildly between moments of inspired hilarity and awkward tedium. One’s enjoyment of “Wanderlust” will depend largely on one’s tolerance for crude humor.
SHAWN
“Wanderlust” is an overly raunchy comedy that delivers a fair amount of laughs. It’s often insanely humorous, twisted and crazy. And a bit cliched. There are a ton of extras on both the standard DVD and Blu-ray. The best of the bunch is “The Bizarro Cut.” Which is 80 minutes of the film with alternate jokes in nearly every scene. But that’s only on the Blu-ray.

A THOUSAND WORDS
SHAWN
“A Thousand Words” isn’t Eddie Murphy’s best. But it isn’t his worst either. He spends the majority of his screen time not talking. And he’s brilliant and hilarious. His mannerisms and facial expressions are genius. The story and execution of this family film isn’t worth much. Which is too bad because Eddie Murphy is fun to watch as he must express himself without saying a word.

GOOD DEEDS
SHAWN
You have to give Tyler Perry. The dude really tries. I mean he tries very hard. But he just isn’t a good filmmaker. He has terrific stories to tell but his execution, albeit it has gotten better, is just so whack it’s painful. “Good Deeds” has many problems in every technical aspect but the cast which includes Tyler Perry, Thandie Newton and Gabrielle Union make it a somewhat watchable movie. But does anyone really care about a Tyler Perry movie without his famous Madea character.
