OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Every three years the Shawnee Mission West High School band heads to London to be in the New Year’s Day parade.

This is the eighth time the school band has gone there.

Out of all the bands that participate in the London New Year’s parade, Shawnee Mission West High School has made the most visits.

FOX 4’s Matt Stewart visited with the band during a morning practice.

“We have been practicing non-stop since football season ended. We’ve done a packing party where we packed all of our instruments up and all the uniforms to be shipped off to London,” said Johanna Balke,a band student.

She’s expecting cold weather, rain, and awesome, beautiful sights.
