GRANDVIEW, Mo — Thieves broke into a Salvation Army storage location and stole copper from the rooftop heating system, leaving volunteers to work in the cold.
The Grandview Chamber lent the building, located at 12138 Blue Ridge Blvd., to the Salvation Army for extra space to collect and distribute Christmas donations.
The Salvation Army couldn’t get a replacement unit until Monday, but United Heating and Cooling of Grandview provided a portable heating device at no cost.
“We’ve always supported the Salvation Army,” said Ryan Recker with United Heating and Cooling. “They are a great organization and it’s such an honor to help them, especially during the holiday season.”
