JOHNSON COUNTY, Kan. — An 18-year-old Overland Park man faces four charges from an alleged shooting and robbery that happened in Merriam on Wednesday. Javon D. Mills is charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, aggravated assault and theft between $1,000-$25,000.

A criminal complaint filed Friday outlines that Mills is accused of shooting a clerk in the face and taking money from the 7-Eleven, and threatening another clerk with a shotgun. Furthermore, he’s accused of stealing that shotgun from two other men.
The clerk who was shot in the face was listed in stable condition on Wednesday night as he continued to recover at a hospital. Mills was arrested early on Thursday morning after Merriam police had released surveillance photos and video.
Mills, who is being held on a $500,000 bond, appeared in court on Friday. Mills’ mother was present at her son’s first appearance.
