KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Nearly 180 luxury apartments are coming to the south Plaza area. And that’s not the only thing. Plans also include new restaurants and offices.
The new apartment complex will open next spring. A new wine bar opened over the weekend, and a Whole Foods may also call the area home.
The 51 main apartments bring a much needed new influx of living options to the Plaza. Developers say the new luxury living option will be the catalyst for additional economic development in the area.
“The south Plaza neighborhood is a really it’s a hidden gem here in Kansas City that we’re really pleased to be a part of,” said Rich Muller, vice president of Van Trust Real Estate. “As a matter of fact, our offices are here down on 49th and Main, and in addition to this project at 51st and main, we’ve recently acquired a small portfolio of additional properties that allow us to broaden our footprint in the area.”
The developers behind the new apartments say they’re hopeful a Whole Foods will go in at the University of Missouri Kansas City in 2016.
