MERRIAM, Kan. — A 95-pound dog died this week after being bitten by a copperhead.
The incident happened in a wooded area in the 9200 block of 50th Terrace in Merriam, Kan. A community service officer said the German Shepard died within five minutes of the bite.
Earlier this year an Olathe man suffered a copperhead bite to the finger while walking his dog. He was taken to an area hospital, but has since recovered from his injuries.
