PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kan. — School leaders called for a lockdown at Shawnee Mission East High School, 7500 Mission Road, Thursday morning after a student said she heard two students talking about a gun.
She reported what she heard to a school resource officer; the school then enforced a lockdown until they located the two students involved in the conversation.
The resource officer found the gun in question, but it turned out to be a fake gun.
The lockdown was then lifted. The school has not determined if or how the students will be punished, but said it will release more later in the day.
