KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Jasmine Davis is a college student and she was on her way to work Monday morning when she said her neighbor, Brian Stidham, asked for a ride. It was then, she says, she was held at gunpoint for seven hours.
“I asked him if he was serious and he said he was very serious,” Davis told FOX 4 on Wednesday.
She says he ordered her to drive on Interstate 435 and head south. He would later take the wheel down the road.
Then, Jasmine says, he ordered her to take what he called a GHB pill, commonly known as the “date rape” drug, which she did.
At one point, Jasmine said she was hungry, so Stidham stopped for food and she found her chance.
“He went inside and then I put in my phone and called my grandmother first and let her know quickly, I’m with Brian the neighbor and he has a gun. Call the police.”
Jasmine said she told Stidham she didn’t have her phone, so he hid it and used it when she had the chance — like when she says he stopped at an abandoned home.
“Anything that has location like Facebook and stuff, I turned them on and just had them running and then I called 911.”
Jasmine said she knew she had to stay calm even when she thought her life would end very soon.
“When we pulled up to the lake, and that’s when I thought it was basically over — because he was trying to check the car for my cell phone that I told him I didn’t have.”
Help soon arrived.
Looking back on Monday, Jasmine feels she could have been killed by someone she says she once trusted.
“I still don’t feel one hundred percent safe. Because this could be anyone.”
Stidham is facing charges of felonious restraint and unlawful use of a weapon in Benton County.
He remains in jail on $15,000 bond.
