KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The AdHoc Group Against Crime is asking the community to remain peaceful in wake of the grand jury’s decision not to indict Officer Darren Wilson. The organization had volunteers in the office on Monday taking calls from people offering tips about possible violent protests in the area. As of 9 p.m. Monday night the AdHoc Group had not received any calls about violent protests.
“It’s a watch but it’s not a win or lose, nobody wins and nobody loses when there’s a situation where there’s violence,” said Alvin Brooks, AdHoc Group president. “It’s a loss for everybody.”
AdHoc Group volunteers urge the public to call police with information about violent protests first; they said they are simply serving as a second set of hands.
“We’re giving people an opportunity to call and say hey we have some type of activity going on here,” said Pat Clarke, Community Outreach Specialist to Kansas City Police Chief Forte. “If there’s anybody who feels threatened by something that is going on we want them to give a call up here or to your local police department.”
