KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Plaza project, formerly known as the ‘West Edge,’ is finally finished.

The project which has been under construction for nearly eight years, is now home to a the boutique hotel, Hotel Sorella, an 11 story office building, and Tuesday the Polsinelli Law Firm celebrated the opening of its new headquarters.

It was originally called the West Edge project, and ground was broken in December of 2005. It was supposed to be home to an advertising agency, but then went bankrupt and sat empty for years.

Finally in August of 2011, Polsinelli chose the site as its headquarters, and in March 2012 they chose to tear down most of the office building and rebuild.

During November the hammering and sawing came to an end. The hotel remained the only piece of the original plan.

The Polsinelli headquarters is 235 thousand square feet and will be home to more than 400 employees.

Mayor Sly James and other city leaders plan to attend Tuesday’s grand opening celebration.
