KETCHIKAN, Alaska – The Alaska Highway Patrol reported that a ‘Mayday’ was sent on Tuesday at approximately 10:30 a.m. from a ship identified as the FV Ostrich outside of Ketchikan. The distress call indicated that an injured diver was in need of assistance.

The U.S. Coast Guard responded and transported Levi Adams to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Adams, 32, is from Leawood, Kansas. The report from the highway patrol indicates that the cause and circumstances of his death are now under investigation.
