OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Twenty per cent of all sales made on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at the Chick-fil-a on 95th and Quivira will be given to the family of Andre Maloney.
The 17-year-old Shawnee Mission West football player died Friday, Oct. 4 after he suffered a stroke at a football game the evening before.
Maloney had just made a 63-yard touchdown reception when he stumbled to the sideline and collapsed. He was taken by ambulance to Research Medical Center in Kansas City on Thursday where it was determined he had suffered a stroke.
The family now faces significant medical and funeral-related bills. The Chick-fil-a near the Oak Park Mall volunteered to donate 20 per cent of its Tuesday sales toward a fund set up for the family. The Maloney donation is only for sales at the Oak Park Mall location.
Maloney had signed an organ donation card, and in his death has helped five people receive the organs they need.
A memorial fund was established by Don Perkins, athletic director at the school, to help Andre’s family.
Make checks payable to Andre Maloney Memorial Fund and be dropped off at any Community America locations.
