DEEP GAP, N.C. — A North Carolina Department of Transportation worker was reportedly killed early Tuesday morning in a crash, familiar to many in the Kansas City area.

According to GoBlueRidge.net, the accident happened shortly after 4:30 a.m, while Department of Transportation workers were attempting to clear the roadway of a tree that had been downed by overnight storms.
WSOC reports the DOT’s vehicle was struck by another truck. There is no indication that the driver was impaired. The roadway was still wet from the storms and dark in the early hours.
Witnesses were attempting CPR on the victim when rescuers arrived, but the victim died, GoBlueRidge reports.
The identities of those involved have not been released.
And in Oakwood Village, Ohio on Monday, a tow truck driver was taken to the hospital after he was hit by a semi truck while trying to change a tire.
It happened at about 1:30 p.m. Two good Samaritans, who happened to be nurses, stopped to help after the accident. The victim was flown to the hospital.
In Kansas City, on August 27, tow truck driver Blake Gresham, 18, was killed on the Bond Bridge while he was trying to help a stranded motorist.
