KANSAS CITY, Mo. — They’ve gone and done it. They’ve brought Pictionary to the smart phone.

I’d seen some of my Facebook friends talking about Draw Something for a few weeks now, but only recently downloaded it.  Simply put — it’s quite good.

The game is broken up into two phases; first, guessing what the other player has drawn. The game provides a set of letters used in the word; it also gives you an option to “blow up” some of the bad letters to make it a little easier.

The other part of the game is where you actually draw the object for your playing partner to guess. The game allows you to choose your brush size, erase items, or change colors. It comes with a base set of colors; you buy more colors with coins. Those are available for purchase, or you can earn them along the way by guessing / drawing words. The words range from easy (like “handle” above) to hard (like “LionKing” below).

The good thing here is that the games move along quickly, and it’s more about teamwork than it is competing against your playing partner.

Draw Something is available for iPhones / Pads / Pods and for Android Devices. It comes in an ad-supported version (free) or ad-free version (currently $0.99).
