KANSAS CITY, Mo. — It’s a big holiday season and generally that means a lot of family time. But a lot of the men and women serving our country overseas won’t make it home for Christmas.
So students from Maple Park Middle School in Kansas City north started a project called ‘Package in the Snow.’ They are sending care packages to thirty veterans fighting overseas. Everything was donated.
“The day of Christmas, they’ll look at their door step and then they can be happy that they can use it,” said student Zachary Riley.
“It’s our first time doing this but we’re hopefully making it a legacy and doing it year after year,” said Machelle Bearden, another student.
The packages will be sent right before thanksgiving to make it in time for Christmas.
