INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — Police have identified the Independence man killed after he lost control of his motorcycle earlier this week.

According to Independence Police, 22-year-old Devin Patrick was driving north on Powell Road near Truman Road around 7:40 p.m. on Tuesday when he lost control of his motorcycle and was ejected.

Investigators say a vehicle heading south on Powell Road tried to swerve to avoid the accident, but the motorcycle hit the front the vehicle.

Patrick was transported to the hospital to be treated for his injuries, but he was later pronounced dead.

Police said those in the other vehicle were not injured.

Investigators said they were still trying to determine the cause of the accident.
