FULTON, Mo. (AP) — Authorities have released the name of a 6-year-old Missouri boy who was found shot to death in his babysitter’s bedroom.
The Columbia Daily Tribune reports that Callaway Sheriff Dennis Crane identified the child Friday as Dayne Hathman.
Twenty-seven-year-old Scottie A. Willet of Fulton has been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the boy’s death. Willet is jailed in Callaway County on $1 million cash-only bond. No attorney is listed in online court records.
Crane said Willet had been living with the boy’s family outside Fulton and was babysitting this week when the boy was killed.
Crane says an autopsy was conducted Friday and that he expected to send evidence to the Missouri State Highway Patrol lab next week for analysis.
