PATTONSBURG, Mo. — Acting on a tip about a fatal fire in Trenton, Mo. on Sunday, authorities with the Missouri Highway Patrol and Daviess County Sheriff’s Office tracked a man who may have had something to with it to a home in between McFall and Pattonsburg on Monday.
Troopers and deputies were in a standoff with the man Monday night, but eventually lost contact with him. He was found dead inside after authorities entered the home.
The standoff followed the Sunday night fire where a victim was found dead while firefighters were extinguishing flames. The Trenton Police Department says the fire happened shortly after 9 p.m. in the 600 block Grundy Street. Police haven’t identified the victim in any way yet, or determined their cause of death.
The fire is under investigation by the Trenton Police Department, Mo. Highway Patrol, the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office and Mo. State Fire Marshal’s Office. The standoff scene was located about 75 miles north of the metro.
