SEDALIA, Mo. — The Pettis County Sheriff’s Office announced that human remains found in two locations at Goodwill Chapel Trailer Park are from one person, who was identified as a white female on Wednesday. The Boone County Medical Examiner’s Office conducted the autopsy and a forensic anthropologist helped analyze the remains further.
The discovery of the remains was made on Sunday afternoon at about 2:30 in the 26000 block of Goodwill Chapel Road, just south of Sedalia. The tenant at the trailer where some of the remains were found, Joseph Arbeiter, had been evicted and the landlord and his grandson initially found some body parts in a metal bin.
“It was actually two arms and a leg and what looked to me to be a decomposed nose without the flesh on it,” Jeremy Faulk told FOX 4’s Robert Townsend on Monday.
Other body parts were also found across the street in the woods, Wednesday it was confirmed that all body parts belonged to the same person. Arbeiter had actually been arrested and charged in a separate investigation with second-degree assault, attempted rape, sodomy, armed criminal action and tampering with a witness after allegedly attempting to rape a neighbor.
Arbeiter has yet to be named a suspect for any foul play in the discovery of the remains. The investigation into what happened to that white female is still classified as a suspicious death investigation according to Pettis County Sheriff Kevin Bond.
