ATCHISON, Kan. — Benedictine College has canceled Friday’s basketball game because of a player’s death. Reginald Demps Junior died Dec. 21 in a traffic accident in Weston, Mo. He crashed on his way to KCI Airport, headed for a holiday trip to Colorado. His teammate, Quaran Johnson was injured in the crash as well.
Demps played as a sophomore guard for Benedictine. The team decided it would be best not to play tonight since his funeral is scheduled for Saturday morning. Several college officials, including coach Ryan Moody, will attend tomorrow’s service.
