LEAWOOD, Kan. — FOX 4’s Love Fund for Children is getting some help from our community to raise money for local children in need.
“The Love Fund helps children in the Kansas City area, in fact, 37 counties around our region, age birth to 18 with anything they needs to live, learn, and survive,” said Lisa Herron, the Executive Director of Love Fund for Children.
Herron paired up with Masterpiece Sales to hold a benefit for FOX 4’s Love Fund for Children.
“So they can now accept estates, they can accept artwork donations, they can accept other things like that, and we will be the outlet to get that sold for them,” said Tim Hundley, who own Masterpiece Sales with his wife.
Masterpiece Sales, along with its sellers and consignors, have put together a benefit estate sale in a $1.4 million home in Hallbrook Farms.
“Us being in this business, we thought that we would put our hand in the pot if you will and offer them a chance to make some money here for the upcoming needs,” Hundley said.
Besides the $10 donation for admission at the door, a portion of everything sold will be given to the FOX 4 Love Fund.
“From the consignors, the homeowners, ourselves, as well as whatever is brought in at the door and whatever is brought in at the silent auction which is all donation based,” Hundley said.
The Love Fund helps needy kids and provides goods and services to them. The Love Fund holds fundraisers often because it doesn’t receive any government funding.
“We provide things like beds and bedding, clothing, glasses, eye exams, therapeutic tools, assistive technology, we provide so much for the kids right here in our community and these funds will be used for that,” said Herron.
“Having a special needs child myself, he’s 28 years old, an adult who lives with us, we know the needs,” said Hundley.
This is also a drop off site for gently used purses, handbags, and wallets, as well as instruments.
“For the FOX 4 Band of Angels, so if somebody has a well-loved instrument they would like to donate to a needy child you can bring it here,” said Hundley.
This is the first time Masterpiece Sales has helped raise money for the Love Fund and says it will continue to do so.
The Love Fund will receive a portion of the proceeds from the whole weekend, so if you didn’t make it out there on Friday there’s still time to make it to the four day event.
The address is 3113 W. 118th street, Leawood, Kan. 66211.
