KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The 2013 Phillips 66 Big 12 Tournament was the most successful tournament in Kansas City, according to numbers.
The Sprint Center reported a record crowd Friday night, which was then broken Saturday night at the championship game.
In the Power and Light district, the Cordish Company said it had its best five consecutive days of sales since the entertainment district opened.
“You have almost as many people here watching the games as you do across the street. Then when the game finishes across the street and more people come over here, we actually had to close the block down a few times because we were at capacity,” said Nick Benjamin, P&L Executive Director.
Capacity at the P&L is 15,000 people at one time. Benjamin said 130,000 people visited the downtown district from Wednesday through Saturday.
