KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City’s Animal Shelter is overcrowded and is urgently in need of families to adopt its animals.

The shelter can comfortably hold about 200 animals, but right now they’re up to almost 500 animals. This week alone they’ve taken in an additional 200 animals and the shelter just can’t take in anymore.

“It’s record-breaking. We’ve never really seen this many animals in at once,” said Tori Fugate, KC Pet Project. “It’s cats, dogs. Everything. You name it.”

The KC Pet Project is working with rescue groups to take in animals so they won’t have to euthanize any. They’re also offering half-price adoptions all weekend long.
