Alex Fraser is in Denver, Colorado, where he is undergoing treatment and rehabilitation, but on Friday morning at the request of his principal, Alex provided a statement that his principal read during the assembly and watched via iChat.

Fraser had been on spring break vacation with his parents and three brothers, as well as other students and families from Blue Valley High School, when he suffered a critical life threatening injury to his neck and spinal cord while surfing. The injury left him paralyzed from the waist down.

A facebook page called Alex’s Angels has more than 2,000 followers and provides frequent updates on Alex’s rehabilitation.

On Thursday, one post said:

“Alex removed his left shoe today and got to assist in grilling some kabobs. Prayers=Progress!”

About a month prior to the injury Fraser had broken a school record for breast stroke in swimming and also regularly participated in the school’s drum line.

A group called ‘Alex’s Angels’ has put together an online campaign to support the family. CLICK HERE for more information or to donate.
