MERRIAM, Kan. — Authorities are investigating after the body of a woman was found in a Merriam hotel room on Friday afternoon.

According to Merriam Police, a maid at the Homestead Suites at Shawnee Mission Parkway and I-35 found the body of the 37-year-old woman around 9:45 a.m. on Friday morning and called authorities.

The identity of the victim, who is believed to be from Platte County, Missouri, and her cause of death have not been released, but Merriam Police say that they suspect that the woman had stayed at the hotel before. They say that they are investigating the case as a homicide.

Investigators say that they are examining footage from the hotel’s surveillance cameras, but at this point they do not have any suspects. They are asking for the public’s help in identifying the man in this picture:

Police say that the person in the picture is not necessarily a person of interest in the case, but they would like to identify and talk to them.

The Merriam Police Department, Johnson County Crime Lab and the Metro Squad are investigating this case.
