RICHLAND, Mich. — This past Friday, an 11-year-old boy named Colin learned he had 2.1 million new friends, and in response issued a video on YouTube apologizing for his on-screen reaction to the news.
Colin suffers from a sensory-processing disorder similar to Aspergers which makes it difficult for him to socially interact. Because it is sometimes hard for him to make friends, Colin’s mom wanted him to feel special on his big day, so she created a surprise Facebook page for his 11th birthday. She succeeded in getting over 2.1 million Facebook ‘likes’ on the page, while the birthday boy remained oblivious to its existence.
The news was revealed to Colin on Friday in front of cameras, although he says he didn’t get really excited about it until the cameras were off of him, once he had some time to “figure it out.”
