KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The license for a church-run day care was placed on probation last week after a complaint that a child was put into a closet.

The Missouri Secretary of State’s Office believes teachers at Grow In Peace Child Care, 8240 Blue Ridge Blvd., put the 5-year-old boy in a closet a number of times when he attended the facility.

During an interview with a child care facility specialist, the boy told her that his teachers would put him in a closet and sometimes close the door when he got into trouble. He told the specialist that he would cry because it was dark in the closet.

The child’s parents say their son began having nightmares and has become afraid of the dark.  He no longer attends the daycare and the teachers accused were terminated.

The daycare is run by Peace Lutheran Church, 11111 East 77th Terrace, in Raytown.
