MADISON, Wisc. – Let’s hope the wounded bird in this story doesn’t find its way to a Thanksgiving table. The Madison, Wisconsin Police Department released an incident report on Tuesday that detailed a grocery store food fight where one assailant’s weapon of choice was a frozen turkey.

It happened at Woodman’s Food Market last Tuesday and a 62-year-old man initially called 911 to report that a ‘melee’ was in progress. He had reportedly been hit in the head with a full container of strawberry yogurt during the brawl.

Police said it started out as a dispute over money between two groups of women. It escalated to a point where one woman sprayed two others with pepper spray. That led to hand-on-hand combat where two women started throwing punches at one another.

After that, the combatants scrambled for different ammunition. One woman grabbed a frozen turkey and tossed it, but missed her intended target. The report states that it hit a palette holding eight boxes of bacon, knocking them all over the place.

The incident report mentions that the fight continued with food scattered throughout the meat counter area. When the dust settled, police were able to find two of the women that were pepper sprayed before they could drive away from the store. One was cited for disorderly conduct. The rest of the food fighters were not immediately found.
