Police in Leavenworth are investigating a deadly shooting involving two brothers. Crime is rare in the small community and now family and friends want answers.
Someone shot the brothers outside a barbershop in north Leavenworth on Friday evening. Police say they’re still looking for the person who may have driven the brothers to the hospital before their car crashed at Union Park.
On Saturday more than hundred family and friends mourned the loss of 28-year-old Marshall and 25-year-old Derrick Jones. Loved ones say they’re stunned and outraged over the killing of the brothers. Friends say they’d been turning their lives around and now leave children behind.
“It was senseless,” said Clarinda Bailey, the men’s aunt. “It didn’t have to come to the point where a life had to be taken.”
So far, there have been three homicides in 2011 in Leavenworth. This is the first multiple murder in more than 15 years. If you have any information call Leavenworth in Hotline (816) 474-TIPS.
