OLATHE, Kan. – A burst pipe sent more than 60 residents at Evergreen Community of Johnson County out the door Sunday.
Staff told FOX 4 the pipe burst around 2 a.m. on Sunday and flooded most of the building’s floors.
“We relocated everybody, woke all the residents up and had a pajama party,” said CEO KJ Langlais.
Langlais said it took hours for staff to gather all of the resident’s belongings and to load them onto buses. Staff said 68 of the 112 residents will now have to stay at Royal Terrace, a nearby nursing home, while repairs are made.
“Tomorrow morning we will be able to start doing some light demolition, tearing out floors, checking walls to see where the water has gone,” said Brad Reinhardt, Johnson County Director of Facilities.
Staff said it could take three weeks to make all of the repairs.
