TULSA, Okla. — A bystander who witnessed the Tulsa County courthouse shooting on Wednesday said people scattered when the first shots rang out.
John Francher, a communications specialist at the Tulsa City-County Library, told the Tulsa World that he snapped photos of a barefooted man shooting outside the courthouse on Wednesday.
New Channel 4 reports 23-year-old Andrew Dennehy shot into the air on the north side of the courthouse, but who or what he was shooting at is unclear. Deputies returned fire, hitting Denney in the upper body. His injuries are consider non-life threatening.
Francher said he started snapping pictures at the first sound of gunfire.

“[People] were scattering, trying to get in the courthouse as quickly as they could,” Fancher said. “I start snapping off some shots, and he sits down, just casually sits down, gun in his hand and three sheriffs come out of the courthouse.”
KFOR reports that two men and two women were injured in the gunfire. The most severely injured is reportedly in critical condition.
A Tulsa deputy was shot in the hand or arm but is expected to be okay. Another officer flipped her cruiser swerving to avoid another car when she was en route to the scene. She was transported to an area hospital in fair condition.
Local reports indicate that Dennehy had a violent past and had been arrested for drunk driving, weapons possession and drug possession. Charges in Wednesday’s shooting are pending.
Local radio station KRMG reported Dennehy’s brother, Brian, was shot and killed by Tulsa police in 2005 after he allegedly beat his grandfather to death.
