CAMERON, Mo. — Police and school officials called for a lockdown of all Cameron Schools Wednesday morning due to a threat they considered serious.
Police received a call shortly before 9 a.m. from a scared woman who told them the father of her children was headed to their school, Parkview Elementary School, to kidnap her children.
Cameron police and the Missouri Highway Patrol surrounded the schools and would not allow anyone to enter or leave. The lockdown was over after 10 a.m. when the suspect was located on 69 Highway south of Cameron.
The suspect is identified as a 30-year-old man, but police will not release his name until he is charged.
