KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The owners of a popular Kansas City gym are adding up the damage after a car came smashing through a wall and into the gym’s cardio room.
According to witnesses, the driver of a vehicle made a U-turn and then drove head-long through the wall of Hitch Fit near 31st and Gillham early Sunday morning. Kansas City Missouri Police say that the driver then backed the vehicle out of the building and drove down the street to a nearby convenience store before taking off.
“Luckily I had some really fit trainers and so they came down and helped us clean up the mess,” said Hitch Fit co-owner Micah Lacerte. “Lots of cinder blocks and sheet rocks, it was a disaster.”
Lacerte says that they haven’t gotten an estimate on the damage, but that the bulk of the equipment can be replaced through insurance.
Despite the damage, the business will stay open, Lacerte says.
