KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A light fixture that has been a fixture in Kansas City for decades is coming down to make room for new decor.
On Tuesday, construction crews began disassembling the huge, iconic chandelier that hangs in the lobby of the former Hyatt Hotel, now the Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center, 2345 McGee St.
The giant chandelier is made up of more than a thousand glass balls.
The Sheraton is undergoing a $13 million renovation to give it the Sheraton style and Sheraton branding. Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, which owns the Sheraton, took over the 40-story, 730-room hotel in February.
Renovations to the hotel are expected to be complete by the fall.
