KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Results of forensic exam on a dead chihuahua proved the dog was not skinned and mutilated by a human as first suspected, but instead by a larger animal.
A veterinarian determined that Chica was not intentionally tortured, but got into a fight with another animal, likely a bigger dog.

The initial examination led many to believe a person cut Chica’s throat, broke her back, skinned her and left her for dead in the road near their Northland home at Brighton and Vivion Road.
Chica’s owner, Danielle Carter, told FOX 4 that she does not believe that her dog was killed by another animal.
A reward for $1,500 was offered for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the individual(s) responsible.
