KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Firefighters said a man dropped off a 6-year-old child at Fire House No. 17 in Kansas City’s midtown neighborhood on Tuesday night.
This case does not fall under Missouri’s “Safe Haven” law, which allows a parent to drop off an infant, no more than one year old, at places like hospitals and fire stations with on-duty workers.
The fire department has not said if the child was a boy or girl or who dropped them off.
Since it does not fall under the “Safe Haven” law, officials said it could be considered abandonment. Kansas City, Mo., police said they have no record of the incident, and the fire department has not given any more details about the case.
There’s no word if the person who dropped the child off will face charges.
