OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Children’s Mercy Hospital is expanding into Southern Johnson County by opening a new state-of-the art facility in Overland Park.

Children’s Mercy Blue Valley opened its doors for tours of the brand new urgent care and sports medicine facility on Wednesday.  This new location will include 16 exam rooms for urgent care and sports medicine, and specialized gym equipment for physical therapy.

On Wednesday, dozens of health care officials along with people from the community arrived at the new facility to hear about a $250,000 donation to the clinic from the Trent Green family foundation, Nick and Jake’s and George Shaw construction. Since children are seen despite their ability to pay, donations are vital to the Children’s Mercy system, which has been ranked as one of the best children’s hospitals by US News and World Report.

“Children are our first priority in this community, so we make that the services are here, providers are here to provide the services they need on a daily basis, and so we are just thrilled to open this new location,” said Marshaun Butler, the Vice President of Children’s Mercy.

The new building, located at 6750 W. 135th street in Overland Park, Kan., is double the size of the current location on College Boulevard. Staff at the facility will start seeing patients on Thursday.
