KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Shiny convertibles, fancy trucks, and classic muscle cars, they’re the type of things you’d expect to see at the World of Wheels Auto Show.
But flouncy dresses, body hugging corsets, and even hair bows? Well those may be a bit surprising.
“We’re kind of obsessed with the 50s, the 40s, a little bit of the 30s. Anything that shows a woman who her curves are her friends,” said Lea Williams from Monkey Wrench.
But keeping in the theme of classics done right, clothing shop, Monkey Wrench thought the World of Wheels would be the perfect place to set up a booth and attract some female car fans.
“If you’ve ever noticed, the only thing that makes these cars look any better is a woman sitting on top of them, and so the combination is deadly,” Williams said.
Clothes aren’t the only non-automotive attraction at the show. There’s a home fragrance booth, and a place for all things bright and shiny.
“I think it’s pretty awesome because you want to see different things going to car shows instead of just cars all the time, you want to see dresses, jewelry,” said Karen Spiwak.
Spiwak has been going to car shows for 42 years and while she’s here to show off her 1935 Ford Coupe, she enjoys the variety she’s seeing at this show.
“I love those things like that. It’s kind of cool, instead of just cars all the time,” she said.
But if the classics are your thing, cars or clothes, there’s now enough to please all tastes at Bartle Hall.
