KANSAS CITY, Mo. — U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver came to the aid of an unidentified woman found laying in a ditch while traveling from a meeting on Friday morning.
According to a report on CNN and Tony’s Kansas City blog, the Kansas City Democrat was riding in the passenger side of a car when he noticed a hand waving above the weeds in a ditch off the side of Troost near 44th Street.
Cleaver alerted his staff member to stop, and they both jumped out of the vehicle to discover the woman in distress and going in and out of consciousness.
Cleaver and the unidentified staffer called 911 and waited with the woman until paramedics arrived, CNN reports.
“The heroes are the First Responders who rushed to save her,” he said. “I just hope she is okay.”
According to Cleaver’s staff, there is no word on the condition or identity of the woman.
