KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Some Head Start programs across the country have already had to close their doors because the government isn’t sending them money during the shutdown.
Subsidies from the government provide for food in the shelter, as well as services for women, infants and children.
FOX 4’s Charly Arnolt went to Operation Breakthrough to check on their worries over their Head Start budget.
“We’re now trying to decide what we’re going to do because we certainly are not going to stop feeding children,” said Dr. Jim Caccamo, Director of The Mid-America Regional Council, which is responsible for allocating money to the Head Start centers in Jackson, Clay and Platte counties.
The new fiscal year begins November 1st, and if the government is still shutdown, MARC will be forced to make some big decisions.
