HARTFORD, Conn. – A woman with a life-long disorder says she was kicked out of her Connecticut doctor’s office because she had a service dog with her.
According to FOX 4 sister station WTIC, Danyelle Carter, 24, has lived with Fibromyalgia since she was a child.
“Lots of pain, everything hurts,” Carter told FOX CT.
She says she falls often and it hurts just to stand up sometimes, which is why she got her service dog, Ziva, last year. The dog helps Carter with everyday tasks such as fetching her inhaler, cell phone or water from inside the refrigerator. According to Carter, the dog has so far helped her to live a more normal life.
Ziva wears a red vest, ID badge and leash which helps her to be clearly marked a service dog. She has traveled to restaurants, shops and medical appointments with Carter in the past without any issues.
Last week, Carter took Ziva into allergist Dr. Michael Krall’s office, where she claims he yelled at her to leave, saying he was allergic to the dog.
“He said he ‘didn’t care what the law was, he’s the boss’ and to ‘get out of his office,’ and he was just yelling at me,” said Carter, who claims she had called the office two months prior in order to confirm bringing Ziva would be ok and was given the go ahead by a person at the office over the phone.
