KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A metro couple says that another couple – virtual strangers – left their infant daughter with them, and never came back for her.
James and Angela Jolley said they were asked by an acquaintance that they had only met twice to watch their month-old daughter “Izzy” for a few hours on Wednesday night. The Jolleys said the child smelled terrible, so they fed and bathed her while those few hours turned into overnight.
On Thursday morning, James Jolley said he repeatedly contacted the girl’s father, who, he said, kept giving them the runaround about where he and the girl’s mother were.
“I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt,” Jolley said. “I understand things are hard for everybody. Some things don’t work out all the time, but this is just crazy now. You’re dealing with an innocent life that doesn’t deserve this.”
The Jolleys took the child to Children’s Mercy Hospital on Thursday afternoon, and she is now in the care of a social worker. FOX 4 did contact the child’s father, who claimed the child was kidnapped but refused to share text messages between himself and the Jolley family.
The Kansas City Missouri Police Department there have been no charges filed in the case at this time.
