KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Clouds of colored powder erupted into the air Saturday morning past the finish line at the Kansas City Color Run.

This untimed 5k is not a race against the clock. It`s more about fun and health awareness and clearly, all about color. On Saturday FOX 4 met one runner who added a whole new meaning to “runaway bride.”

Runners wore white to show off the color, some camped out on the sidelines, and individual packets of colored corn starch were used to make this health-focused event fun and unique, but one woman wore white as part of tradition.

“It was perfect. Exactly the right wedding for us,” said Lindsey.

That`s right, a Color Run wedding.

“It was great being outdoors and everything is what we do, spending time at the lake, so being out in the sun with our friends and our family was great. That was the whole plan, the idea,” she said.

An idea from the bride:

“I emailed them, shot them this idea and said ‘hey, we have this idea, is this an option?’” said Lindsey.

And after getting a “yes ma’am” from the groom, the plan was in place. Something organizers say they`ve never seen at this event.

“I think it`s great. I think it shows that it`s unique and flexible and we like to make it magical for anybody,” said Lindsey.

Magical moments Chad and Lindsey Ray say will hopefully start a trend.

“I hope so! Because this is the best and most fun wedding we could hope for,” she said.

The couple says they planned this event just a month ago, and said they couldn`t think of a better place to say their vows. Clearly they`ll have some very colorful, very memorable wedding photos.

Color run organizers host more than 150 events in more than 30 countries across the world.
