LEAVENWORTH COUNTY, Kan. — A weekend tragedy is still a concern to people in Leavenworth County.

An early Saturday morning car crash took the lives of two relatives both of whom were scheduled to take part in a family wedding.

The Leavenworth County Prosecutor’s Office says no charges have been filed against a driver who crashed just north of Eudora.

The sheriff’s office has told FOX 4 News two men killed in this crash were an uncle and nephew; 34-year-old Justin Wilson and 29-year-old Jessie Aldrich.

One officer said it is possible their pickup truck was going 80 miles per hour when it veered off the road and crashed into a tree.

A third relative was at the wheel at the time of the crash, and according to a Leavenworth County Sheriff’s spokesman, walked away from the crash and has bonded out of jail.

“Whenever you have a single fatality, there’s a far-reaching scope. This just heightens the issue that much more with all the family members,” said a Leavenworth County Sheriff’s spokesman.

The family wedding Wilson and Aldrich were due to take part in has been postponed.
