OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Police have changed from rescue to recovery mode in the search for missing 36-year-old Jeffrey Bridge.
On Wednesday, police located a pair of sweat pants in the area where Bridge went missing Sunday, May 6. Bridge, 36, disappeared after going to look at flood waters near Indian Creek, located near his house at 105th and Conser in Overland Park. Bridge left his home around 7 p.m., leaving behind his cell phone, wallet and car keys.
Police found the tattered sweat pants in a tree not far from the 105th and Conser bridge.
“We did find a pair of pants, sweat pants, and the family wasn’t sure what clothing he had on when he left,” said Officer Gary Mason with the Overland Park Police Department. “We did show it to them and they think that they might be a pair that he owned, so it is a concern.”

Mason said the find confirms that Bridge may be in the creek. About 20 members of the Overland Park Fire Department and the Police Dive and Water Rescue teams joined in Wednesday’s search. Crews said there are a number of trees and mounds of debris in the creek they need to investigate.
While crews changed their tactic to recovery mode, Bridge’s family said they are still holding out hope that he is alive. Searchers said they’re not sure how long they’ll continue Wednesday’s search or if they’ll return on Thursday.
