KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Another common drug store product is getting harder to buy. First, it was cold and allergy medications. Now, in order to buy nail polish remover at CVS drug stores, you will have to show identification.

That change is thanks to a new corporate policy, and if you are under 18, you will not be allowed to buy it at all. The ban comes as the latest effort in the war on methamphetamine. The nail polish remover in question contains acetone, which is one of the ingredients used to make meth in home labs.

“If these things like that that’s causing a problem, then CVS should ask for ID and not let the young children take advantage of the product and ruin their lives,” Charice Perez said outside a local CVS store.

CVS also said it will limit the amount of nail polish remover a person can buy in conjunction with other products that contain ingredients that can be used to make meth.
