ATLANTA (AP) — A Delta Air Lines jet at Atlanta’s international airport has been evacuated after a report of smoke in the cabin.
Atlanta Fire Rescue spokeswoman Janet Ward said the smoke eventually dissipated Tuesday evening. She said crew members could not immediately identify its source and called in maintenance staff.
Delta Air Lines spokeswoman Jennifer Martin said the smoke was in the cockpit. She said the pilots smelled smoke, turned the MD-90 jet around on the taxiway and returned to the gate. She said the smoke was caused when a fan that recirculates air burned out.
Martin said the passengers were moved to another plane. She could not immediately say how many passengers there were or where the flight was headed.
Ward says no injuries were reported.
