KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Imagine not going to the dentist until you’re a teenager! That’s the the reality for thousands of kids in the metro. In fact, more than 26 thousand kids in the Northland are not getting adequate dental care…they are uninsured or  underinsured.

But Northland charity Miles of Smiles is working to change that. Miles of Smiles is a mobile dental clinic providing free dental care to kids at school or other social service organizations. Left untreated, dental disease can lead to severe health problems later in life…such as heart disease, stroke and diabetes.

In 2011, Miles of Smiles provided comprehensive dental care to more than 3,000 children, for more than 6,000 chair visits. On June 1, the charity is celebrating 10 years of providing this much-needed service at their ‘Decade of Smiles’ fundraising luncheon.

You can help continue their mission to bring  healthy happy smiles to kids in the metro,  by attending the luncheon which will feature a magician, speaker and lunch at the Argosy casino.
