MISSOURI VALLEY, Iowa (AP) — The DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge in Iowa is hosting a family fishing day in an effort to provide basic instruction and opportunities to fish.
All ages are welcome to participate in the event at the refuge’s South Gate Recreation Area, scheduled for Saturday, May 17. Activities will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Participants should bring their own equipment, but bait will be provided by the refuge.
The event coincides with Nebraska Free Fishing Day, in which any Nebraska resident can fish at DeSoto without a license. Fishing license requirements for Iowa residents age 16 years and older still apply.
